What is Localgiving.com?

Localgiving.com aims to strengthen local communities by providing an online donation site that empowers local charities and community groups to be more effective and self sustainable. It also enables donors to find and support local charitable organisations, including those that are too small to be registered by the Charity Commission, with the knowledge and confidence that:

  • These small charities and community groups are independently vetted by their local Community Foundation before they can be registered on Localgiving.com

  • Donations are appropriately spent by bona‐fide charitable organisations

  • You belong to an online community that provides updates, feedback, volunteer opportunities and the ability to track, monitor and communicate with the charitable community.

 

What does Localgiving.com do for Local Communities?

Localgiving.com provides small local charities with their own website, and simple content management systems, so they can update and add to their web site as often as they wish. The site will enable even unregistered charities to receive online donations and to claim Gift Aid on those.

 

How does Localgiving.com work?

Localgiving.com makes it easy for donors to search for and support local charities and community groups online. Donations are unrestricted and are sent to the charity via its relevant local Community Foundation. Community Foundations ensure the charity or community group is operating in line with its charitable objectives and is still seeking funding to meet those objectives.
