Support For Women and Girls

Got an idea to support women and girls in your community?

If you’re a Nottinghamshire resident or operate a group or charity in Nottinghamshire and have a project proposal, you can upload it to NG Voice – NCF on the VocalEyes platform between 5 July and 6 September 2021.

What are your concerns for women and girls?

Is it yours or your groups aim to build confidence in women so they two can embrace the same opportunities men pursue?

Are you helping girls to grow up with a healthy body image, to know that all shapes and sizes are beautiful?

Do you think it’s important women and girls form communities and help and support one another?

Are you concerned about your daughter or niece’s mental health when she’s bullied online or in the playground by other girls her own age?

Do you carry a rape alarm in your handbag when you leave the house? What can we do to make women feel more secure and safe?

Do your girl friends feel like they should put out on the first date as that’s what’s expected by the guys they date?

Are you a business women that found it hard to get a promotion over your male counterparts because you took time off to have children?

Up to £20,000 (max £10,000 for individual projects) is available for each winning project – they need to focus on one of the following areas:

    • Improving confidence and empowering women  (e.g. by reframing/removing existing mental blocks/mindset change)
    • Building healthy relationships (e.g. form support groups where girls and women help each other grow, and/or tackling bullying issues)
    • Security (e.g. ways to make women feel safe and/or support victims of trauma)
    • Education (e.g. giving girls and women the knowledge to make better decisions)

Last year, we launched our Your Community Your Choice (YCYC) participatory budgeting programme.

Bristol and Abingdon residents were invited to submit project ideas that would made a difference in their community.

Those communities then voted for the ones they wanted to receive funding.

Ten projects won a share of £80K, including Fountain Court’s communal garden makeover and Ashley Court’s outdoor transformation.

This year, we’re making YCYC even bigger, with new funding available for communities in Plymouth, the Isle of Wight, and a second round open for Abingdon and Bristol.

Got an idea for creating great outdoor spaces in your community?

If you’re a Sovereign resident and have a project proposal, you can upload it to YCYC on the VocalEyes platform between 3 June and 2 August 2021.

Up to £10K is available for each winning project – they need to focus on one of the following areas:

    • Improving or creating green spaces (e.g. play or wellbeing spaces)
    • Growing Food (e.g. perhaps plant a community orchard or start an allotment)
    • Increasing biodiversity (e.g. building bug hotels or planting wildflower meadows)
